Tracheoles

The discarded skin

The fine tubes(tracheoles) that take oxygen to the body are visible in the skin that is shed.

The shed skin shows the many tracheoles that make up the the gas transport system of the insect. These tubes take oxygen to the body and remove carbon dioxide. They open to the outside via small holes called spiracles.
