Torching of the Youth Hostel
A burnt coin and the print it made on a piece of paper.

The local Youth Hostel was torched by the local crime gang. After the fire three people who were unaccounted for were suspected of perishing in the fire. One was an Aboriginal Australian backpacker, an African American and an Asian student.

Evidence from the scene was scarce and one very badly burnt body was discovered. No positive identification was possible and the police looked to extra evidence to identify the body.

The evidence collected included a coin found next to the body and a sample of hair fibres found on the head of the body.

Look at the evidence and discuss the possible identity of the body. Give reasons.
