Making moulds

The necessary items required for the formation of latex casts Original specimen Liquid latex Gloves Brush Hair dryer.

Items required:

- Hair dryer to dry the layers of latex.
- Brush to apply the latex.
- Gloves.
- Original specimen to form a mould of.
- Liquid latex

Identical casts can be reproduced from one mould. If the mould is well made it can last for a very long time allowing class sets of casts to be developed. Students may even take the cast home to paint or reconstruct its environment in an art class.
Some of the items that can be moulded with stunning success are:
Stuffed animals such as lizards and other reptiles.
Hands
Fossils
Experiment with other items to see if the original can be reproduced.
